OverRefined
A downloadable game
Ever wanted to run a refinery, but got tired of games where "production" just means slotting Recipe A into Machine B and waiting? Yeah, me too. That's not engineering, that's IKEA furniture assembly with extra steps.
Overrefined ditches the recipe list entirely. Underneath the hood there's a real Newton-Raphson solver crunching Darcy-Weisbach hydraulics, NTU heat transfer, and actual thermodynamics — the same math that keeps real plants from exploding (mostly). Close a valve and watch pressure actually build somewhere it shouldn't. Starve a heat exchanger and watch your downstream process politely fall apart. No invisible recipe conversion, no magic — just physics doing what physics does, whether you meant it to or not.
You won't see the equations, though. We believe in "hide the numbers, show the effects" — gauges creep, lamps flicker, pipes hiss, and you get to feel like a plant operator instead of a spreadsheet jockey. It's brownfield, it's messy, and unlike certain other factory games, your bottleneck might genuinely be a thermodynamic law rather than a missing blueprint.
Built solo, one boiler and one bad decision at a time. Follow along if you enjoy watching someone lovingly simulate steam tables for fun.
Status: early prototype, nothing to download yet. Follow the devlog to watch it grow.
